Makiko Ueda received her B.A. (History) from the University of the Sacred Heart, Tokyo and also an M.A. and Ph.D. (Political Science) from Keiō University. She worked on her post-doctoral research at the Center for International Studies at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) between 2011 and 2013. She taught at Keiō University and Kamakura Women’s University as a lecturer between 2013 and 2014.
